EMERGING ARTIST

August 26, 2020The Birth of INSPIRATION
Current state of being.
I’ve been thinking about inspiration a lot lately, where it originated from. How a person’s creativity works in general. So here’s a word vomit of what my mind has been up to lately, haha.
One definition of inspiration is; the cycle of breath. So, when you think of it that way, everything living breathes, therefore inspiration is alive – constantly shifting from person to person. You can’t own it, it’s not a right that someone can claim. Inspiration is continuously evolving and passing through person to person. At the end of the day, it will outlive all of us – always finding the next vessel to consume.
When I was a kid, I would get so angry when other kids copied my work. I thought that they were stealing my property. That it wasn’t fair. Looking at my life now, I realized that all I do is share my art with others, and ask for insight. I invite further manipulation and ideas to grow the property.
What changed?
The more I reflected and examined the “new state of being” (I guess?), the more I realize that my appreciation for the arts grew. And with that growth, so did my desire to create and share art more. I wanted to add to the cycle of creation.
One of my favourite feelings in the world is being inspired. Whenever I listen to a song that makes me want to dance or see a film that makes me want to act. I get excited. The act of being inspired to create work is a gift – one of the greatest gifts, I think. I am who I am because of the art I surrounded myself with growing up. I became a cluster of a bunch of different inspirations caused by several artists and creators. Witnessing artists and their work has shaped me into the creator I am today. It’s a cycle.
Love the Cycle.
If you really get down to it, the cycle of art and passion started at the dawn of time. Trying to stop it is a waste of time. All your doing is limiting yourself and your potential to create work. Who knows, you could share something that inspires the next generation? But you’ll never know unless you take the step forward – if you take the leap of faith that your work is worth sharing. Trust me, it is.
Also, if you think about it…
Every original idea you’ve had has already been done.
You may not be aware of when who or where it happened. But people have been living on this earth for far too long. No one can possibly own the right to an original creative idea, and the way it is used.
If you horde your creativity out of fear that someone will “copy you,” you can’t truly be an artist.
I love what I do.
Art gives me joy, inspiration, and hope for the future of humanity. I am grateful for that every day. Art allows me to share vivid emotions with people. It allows me to connect to different communities, cultures, and understandings.
I guess my point with all of this is; if you ever feel scared to share your work because it might be overlooked, copied, or not appreciated, I guarantee that there is an audience for it. You might not have found it yet, but adding to this cycle of breath, art and evolution – you’re only adding to our community and our history as humans beings.
There is a very scrambled word vomit form a very tired artist currently working a 14-hour day schedule. Haha omg, I hope it made sense somewhat. And I hope you all continue to find joy and inspiration in whatever you are doing right now.
